Things to bring to the MROP

Sleeping - Pilgrim Park provides bunk beds & mattresses but provides NO bedding. You will need:

• Sheets, blanket, or sleeping bag
• pillow or substitute

Toiletries - You will need:

• Towel
• Soap
• Toothbrush
• Any other personal items you will need

COVID Time - have a mask ready in case you need it.
You will need:

• Proof the vaccination and booster
• Check your negative status before you arrive
• Have two rapid COVID test kits

Clothing - You will need:

• Two plain old white t-shirts (no words or designs on them)
• One plain black t-shirt (no words or designs on them)
• Comfortable clothing for each day.
• Durable shoes appropriate for hiking and walking and water sandals for showering
• Personal symbols* of your life that represent:
— what you need to let go of
— what you might need to grieve over
— what you still want to become
— any personal faith symbol
*These symbols will not need to be exhibited, but we have found that it is helpful to many men for their own initiation purposes.

Other Items - You will need:

• Any drum (or percussion instrument) you care to bring. If you have an extra drum, label it and bring it for someone else to use. No experience required. Other rhythm instruments are encouraged too.
• A journal/notebook with a pen and/or pencil.
• A light jacket/raincoat or windbreaker
• A tarp or poncho to sit on out in the woods – and if sensitive to poison ivy, Technu or any cream to soothe or heal poison ivy.
• A water bottle and coffee/tea mug – a backpack water pouch may be useful.
• A flashlight
• A day pack
• Sunscreen
• A hat (important for sun protection)
• Insect repellent
• A watch (for one of the solo rituals)
• Swimsuit (optional)
• Ear-plugs (if you are easily disturbed by the sound of an air-conditioner)
